The first named scholarship of Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky — support for historical memory and youth

Join-stock Company Zhydachiv Pulp and Paper Mill, together with the NGO Rada-Reforms, is the initiator and patron of the first Ukrainian scholarship “Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky”, established in 2023. Its purpose is to recognize young people who are actively working in the field of preserving national history, culture and civic engagement.

At the Third Historical Youth Forum “Worthy Descendants of Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky” in 2023, four young leaders were awarded scholarships for the first time: Anastasia Bodnar, Yulia Stadnyshyn, Alina Naryniak, and Sviatoslav Tyndyk.

These young people are not only successful in their studies, but also take an active part in cultural, educational, volunteer, and scientific initiatives that contribute to the preservation of Ukrainian historical memory.

Why the Ivan Vyhovsky Scholarship? Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky is one of the most underrated but extremely important figures in Ukrainian history. His victory in the Battle of Konotop in 1659, recognized by analysts at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington, D.C., is one of the most remarkable victories of Ukrainians in the struggle for independence.

The Zhydachiv Civic Center participates in the preservation of historical memory not only in idea but also in action. After all, it was in the Zhydachiv region, in the village of Ruda of the Hnizdychiv community, that the family fiefdom of Hetman Vyhovskyi was located, where Ivan Vyhovskyi himself lived for some time, and after his execution - his wife Olena Statkevych and son Ostap.
